My buddy went in for a job interview the other day to try to get a job at an automobile dealership. He really wants to be an auto technician at a high-end dealership which sells imported automobiles, so with any luck , he’ll get the employment. He said they’re performing a criminal background check on him now, which is pretty normal to get employed these days.

I can truly see how these kinds of background checks could make it difficult to get hired if you have any trouble with the law as part of your past. At the same time, I can see why an employer could be worried about this, because past conduct is the greatest predictor of future conduct. Plus, it could be a legal responsibility depending on the kind of work. I guess the best thing to try and do is actually never get arrested!
